Lightsabers in Real Life, is it Possible? — Steemit

Every science fiction series has really cool pieces of tech that we all wish we had, but if I had to choose one of the cool pieces of tech from any one of my favourite science fiction movies, I'd have to go for ... Iron Man's suit, but if it wasn't for Iron Man's suit I would definitely choose a lightsaber. So in light of the release of the latest Star Wars movie, I thought I'd read up about the possibility of an actual real life lightsaber. Image:source What actually is a lightsaber In short, it's an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Talking about the details of the ins and outs of the weapon, Wookiepedia describe it as a "plasma blade powered by a kyber crystal". So it's simple then, to create a real lightsaber all you need to do is use the force to find a magical crystal that's connected to you ... Yea, I don't think that we'll be able to get kyber crystals anytime soon. So let's not focus on that part, let's focus on the plasma part, because that's something we might just be able to do. Plasma Blades Plasmas can be shaped using magnetic fields, so you could shape it to look exactly like a lightsaber and since plasmas conduct electricity, with the right amount of energy, you could slice through anything. However, that's just about all it will do, you won't be able to have lightsaber battles because the blades will just pass through each other and there won't be any cool sound effects, so what's the point in even making it? It's all for the best There has been multiple theories of making lightsabers, all of which have failed miserably and I think that we all just got to move on and recognise that we're probably never going to see an actual real lightsaber and it's probably all for the best, I mean can you imagine the military in a few years if it was possible to make a lightsaber?
