Cryptocribs: The Airbnb of cryptos powered by an Ethereum dApp

A day after we saw a jump in the Ethereum price, there is more good news coming the Ethereum way. Cryptocribs, a platform that combines the concept of Airbnb with cryptocurrency has travellers in the crypto space talking. What has really set Cryptocribs aside is how non-conventional their approach to funding is. When top competitor Crypto BnB, a vacation marketplace that aims to improve the short-term rental experience is using an ICO to raise funds, Cryptocribs choose not to take that path and it has worked so far. They have already listed over 800 properties, and this comes after less than three months of operation. The interesting thing is, they haven’t had to spend a single dollar on marketing according to co-founder Erasmus Elsner. When you check their website, it’s easy to confuse them with Airbnb at first glance but the technology used, and their philosophy makes them very different. Cryptocribs utilizes the power of the blockchain technology by having its databases in a decentralized network. This means the community of landlords and tenants own their database and they have a voice when it comes to management of the platform. For payments, cryptos like Ethereum, Bitcoin and many others are accepted. The fees involved are also very attractive, where intermediary fees to use platforms like Airbnb can even be 20%, Cryptocribs starting commission fee is 5%, and it drops by 0.2% after every successful booking and positive review you leave. Elsner who previously was an employee of JPMorgan is a good example of the upcoming breed of young idealistic crypto-entrepreneurs. Talking about how he came about the idea he says; “I have always travelled extensively and was strongly involved in the crypto community. That’s how I came up with the idea to set up a travel platform where you do not have to pay costs to an intermediary.” On how the project works, he gives an example of a rental contract that is linked to “smart keys”.  only when you use the key to open the door of your rented room will the money be charged from your account. As always, it’s a pleasure having you visit our site, leave a comment below and let us know what you think of these new developments in the rental space industry. Is Cryptocribs the next big thing?
